Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

At Ribchic Piranha, we believe your personal information belongs to you.

We collect the information we need to take your booking, look after you when you visit us and run our business. We don't believe that making a restaurant reservation should result in your details becoming someone else's marketing opportunity.

THE SHORT VERSION

We do not sell your personal information.

We don't rent it, trade it or give it to other businesses so that they can market to you.

We only share personal information where it is necessary to provide something you've asked us for — for example, processing your booking or payment — where we use a service provider to help us operate our business, or where we're legally required to do so.

We don't want more information about you than we actually need.

WHO WE ARE

Ribchic Piranha is a restaurant based aboard our restored historic vessel at Gloucester Docks, Gloucester, UK.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, the business operating Ribchic Piranha is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

Business/operator: Ribchic Piranha Ltd.
Address: Anchor Business centre, Frankland road, Swindon, wiltshire, SN58YZ
Email: info@ribchics.food

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect information including:

  • your name;

  • email address;

  • telephone number;

  • booking date and time;

  • number of people in your party;

  • seating preferences;

  • information or requests you choose to give us relating to your booking;

  • records of payments, deposits, refunds and transactions;

  • correspondence you have with us; and

  • technical information generated when you use our website, such as basic device, browser and website-usage information.

If you make an online payment, your card or payment credentials are processed by our payment provider. We do not need or intend to store your full card details ourselves.

Please don't provide sensitive personal information in a booking note unless it is genuinely relevant to your visit.

WHY WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use personal information where necessary to:

  • make, administer and confirm your reservation;

  • take deposits and other payments;

  • contact you about your booking;

  • deal with changes, cancellations and refunds;

  • respond to questions or requests;

  • provide the service you've booked;

  • keep appropriate financial and business records;

  • protect our website and booking systems from misuse or fraud; and

  • meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

Depending on the circumstances, our lawful basis for using your information will usually be that it is necessary to provide the service or booking you've requested, necessary for us to comply with a legal obligation, or necessary for our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the business.

Where the law requires your consent, we will ask for it.

WE DO NOT SELL YOUR DATA

We mean this.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not rent it.

We do not trade it.

We do not give your details to unrelated companies so that they can advertise to you.

And we don't build customer profiles to sell to advertisers.

Running an online booking system does, however, require us to use trusted companies that provide services on our behalf.

For example, information may need to be processed by:

  • Wix, which provides our website and reservation system;

  • our payment provider, which processes deposits and payments;

  • companies providing essential website, email, hosting, security or IT services to us;

  • professional advisers where genuinely necessary; and

  • public authorities, regulators or law enforcement where we are legally required to provide information.

Those are service and legal relationships, not us selling your information.

Where another organisation processes information on our behalf, we expect it to handle that information appropriately and only for legitimate purposes.

MARKETING

Making a booking with Ribchic does not automatically mean signing up to a marketing list.

If we offer email or other electronic marketing and your consent is required, we'll ask you separately.

If you choose to receive marketing from us, you can change your mind and unsubscribe at any time.

We will still be able to contact you about an actual booking you've made because those are service messages, not marketing.

COOKIES AND OUR WEBSITE

Like most websites, our site may use cookies and similar technologies to make the website work, operate reservations and payments, maintain security, remember choices and understand how the site is being used.

Some cookies are necessary for the website to function.

Where consent is legally required for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we'll ask for it before using them.

You can use our cookie controls to manage your choices.

More information about the cookies used on the site is available through our cookie settings.

HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION

We don't keep personal information indefinitely just because we can.

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and, where appropriate, for longer where we need to retain records for accounting, tax, legal, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution purposes.

Different types of information may therefore be kept for different periods.

When we no longer have a legitimate reason to retain personal information, we will delete it or anonymise it where reasonably practicable.

KEEPING YOUR INFORMATION SAFE

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

Our website, reservation and payment systems are provided using established technology providers with their own security measures.

No internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we don't use that as an excuse not to take data protection seriously.

INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING

Some of the technology companies we use may process or store information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards and arrangements required by applicable UK data protection law.

YOUR RIGHTS

UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal information. Depending on the circumstances, these can include the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;

  • receive a copy of it;

  • have inaccurate information corrected;

  • ask us to delete information in certain circumstances;

  • restrict or object to certain uses of your information;

  • withdraw consent where we rely on consent; and

  • request transfer of certain information in an appropriate format.

If you'd like to exercise one of these rights, contact us using the details below.

We may need to verify your identity before providing or changing personal information.

If you have a question or concern about how Ribchic Piranha handles your personal information, we'd rather you told us.

The latest version will always be published on our website.
